WxScope Software

The Oklahoma Climatological Survey's Software Development Group (SDG) has developed a new stand alone application for viewing weather data. It will continuously update (with a live internet connection) and is completely customizable. You can download both the PC and Macintosh version at the SDG Website. The Plug-in and WeatherBuddy are other items that you can use if you would like.

Here is a sample image of southern Florida with temperature, wind and 1-hour precipitation station models.

Once you have the product how you like it, you can save the configuration file to be used at a later time. You can also send these files to others, even across other operating systems. WxScript files will be made for each of the forecast sites. For a WeatherScope file for a given city, please visit that city's page (or the current city page).

You may download, use, and further customize them as you see fit. (You may need to Right-Click and Save Target As… depending upon how your web browser is configured.)

Here are a few WxScope files for certain cities:

Atlanta, GA Los Angeles, CA
Billings, MT Miami, FL
Binghamton, NY Minneapolis, MN
Birmingham, AL New Orleans, LA
Burns, OR New York, NY
Calumet, MI Norfolk, VA
Cape Hatteras, NC Redding, CA
Chicago, IL St. Louis, MO
Glasgow, MT Tulsa, OK
Grand Rapids, MI Wichita Falls, TX
Hoquiam, WA
Kansas City, MO

More features are being added to the software, so stay tuned for updates. If you have further questions on how to utilize certain features, feel free to contact me and I will try and help.
